HOLTON — The Holton Red Devils went on a huge run in the first half and cruised to a 75-15 victory over the Hesperia Panthers on Thursday.

That means the Red Devils swept the two-game series in the newly minted “Battle of M-120” this season.

After the teams started out tied at 5-all in the opening minutes, Holton went on a 30-0 run that carried over from the first quater to the second quarter. By halftime, Holton led 45-13.

“We haven’t played many complete games this year so the message at halftime was to maintain the energy and pressure in the half court set as we wouldn’t be pressing in the second half,” said Holton coach Robert Jordan.

Hesperia scored two points in the second half.

“A lot seemed to go well for us tonight,” Jordan said. “We shot the ball well and made nine 3s, which is a season high for us. And, nine girls in on the scoring action.”

Abbie Fowler led Holton with 19 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and five steals. Courtney Boes had 10 points and five steals. Aubrey Goyings had nine points and 15 rebounds. Layla Cannady also reached double figures in scoring with 12. Kenzie Green added eight points.

Holton (8-8, 4-5) travels to White Cloud on Tuesday.

Hesperia (1-14, 0-8) is at Shelby on Tuesday.
