MANISTEE — Whitehall’s boys basketball team, led by Camden Thompson, built a big lead at the half and cruised to a 70-36 victory over the Manistee Chippewas.

Tuesday’s game, played in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division, was played in Manistee.

Whitehall limited the Chippewas to just three points in the first quarter and led 13-3. The Vikings enjoyed a 24-14 second quarter and built a 37-17 lead at the half.
 
The Vikings continued its offensive surge in the third quarter and posted a 21-10 edge and led, 58-35, entering the fourth period. Whitehall had a 12-8 edge in the last eight minutes.
 
Thompson led Whitehall with 30 points on 14-of-25 shooting from the field. Ca’Mar Ready finished with eight points and Trannon Aylor had six. Thompson also had 12 rebounds for a double-double. Ready gathered in seven boards. Jack Houtteman picked off four steals, while Thompson and Kyle Stratton had three each. Stratton had seven assists and Thompson dealt out two.
 
Mason Gunnett led the Chippewas with nine points.
 
Whitehall (13-5, 7-1 WMC Lakes) returns to action Friday night at Ludington in conference play.

Manistee (3-14, 1-8 WMC Lakes) plays at Onekama on Wednesday in a non-conference game.
