SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central built a 12-point lead by the half and went on to defeat visiting Onekama, 68-51, Monday night in a non-conference game.
The Spartans ended the first quarter with a 14-9 advantage. They outscored the Portagers, 21-14 in the second. That gave them a 35-23 lead at the break.
Onekama fought back a bit in the third period, outscoring the Spartans, 18-15. But the Spartans still led by nine, 50-41, going into the fourth quarter.
Will Chye scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Spartans. He also hauled down six rebounds and dished out five assists.
Jayden Perrone contributed 17 points and four rebounds. Tyler Thurow added 10 points.
Onekama was led by Caden Bradford with 18 points. Adam Domres had 11 points and five rebounds. Dante Gray added eight points and six boards.
The Spartans (14-3, 6-2) travel to Ravenna for a conference game on Thursday night.
