MUSKEGON — When you limit a team to just 36 points, you must be doing something right on the defensive end of the floor.
On Friday night, the Reeths-Puffer Rockets turned up the intensity on defense and took down Holland, 52-36.
“Our defense carried us tonight as everyone did a good job focusing on their assignment and competing at both ends,” Reeths-Puffer coach Nate Aardema said. “Holland played patiently and hard throughout the game.”
There was a festive atmosphere in the air at Reeths-Puffer as a large following witnessed the Rocket girls win the OK-Green title in the first game of the evening.
The Rocket boys led 17-7 after one quarter and took a 29-18 lead into halftime. Reeths-Puffer enjoyed a 23-18 scoring margin in the second half.
Travis Ambrose had 22 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and three assists to spark the Rockets. Jaxson Whitaker added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Reeths-Puffer (12-8, 9-5 in the OK-Green) travels to Rockford on Tuesday.
