FREMONT — The host Fremont Packers used an air-tight defense on Tuesday night and defeated Montague 31-22.

The game was tied at 4-all after one quarter and Fremont led 11-5 at the half. An 11-6 scoring advantage in the third quarter put the Packers ahead 22-11.

“Montague obviously struggled shooting the ball tonight, but I’m really happy with how hard our girls continue to play to give us a chance to compete even when we struggle on offense,” Fremont coach Wes Zerlaut said. “Riley (Chase) gave us a great spark off the bench tonight, playing with good energy, solid defense, and scoring seven of her nine points in the fourth quarter.”

Emma Peterson led the Wildcats with 10 points and Ella King chipped in with six.

Chase led Fremont with nine points while Jessica Bennett had six and Mia Clemence had five. Olivia Hansen had 10 rebounds.

Fremont (6-13, 3-6) hosts Orchard View on Friday.

Montague (10-7, 7-3) hosts Western Michigan Christian on Friday.
