FREMONT — The host Fremont Packers used their final home game of the regular season to gun down Orchard View 43-15 on Friday night.

The game was rather tight for a quarter, but in the second quarter, the Packers used an 18-3 scoring advantage to take a 30-10 lead into the half.

There wasn’t much scoring in the second half with Fremont outscoring Orchard View 13-5 after the half.

The Packers’ balanced scoring attack was led by Jessica Bennett with 11 points. Sydney Moon had seven points while Katie Ackerman and Lily Vandenberg had five each. In all, 10 Packer players scored at least one point.

“We talked with the girls about making a memory tonight and they did just that,” Fremont coach Wes Zerlaut said. “It was the last home game of the season, the last home game for our seniors.

Fremont also hosted a Coaches vs. Cancer event with the girls wearing special jerseys with the name of a loved one on the back.

“It was a great night for our basketball program and our kids,” Zerlaut said.

Fremont (7-13, 4-6) plays at Whitehall next Thursday.

Orchard View (1-18, 0-10) hosts league-leading Ludington on Thursday.
