HOLTON–For the second consecutive week, the winter-like conditions are wreaking havoc for local girls’ basketball games.

Tonight, district tournaments are scheduled to get underway, however, there are a number of forfeits and postponements.

In Division 4 at Walkerville, the Panthers of Baldwin have forfeited tonight’s contest to Mason County Eastern. Eastern will now move on to face Manistee Catholic Central at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

In the Division 3 girls district at Lakeview, tonight’s game between Lakeview and Holton has been postponed. The teams will meet at 7 p.m Tuesday. The district schedule will resume as originally planned on  Wednesday. That means Holton would have to play on back-to-back nights should they win on Tuesday evening. The winner will face Kent City at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

In another Division 3 district, the game between Traverse City Academy and Manistee has been postponed for tonight. This game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will play on back-to-back nights (on Wednesday) against Traverse City St. Francis at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Division 2 at Reed City, tonight’s game between Reed City and Cadillac has been postponed. It will be played at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will meet Ludington at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Fruitport Calvary Christian boys’ basketball team earned a forfeit as Hudsonville Libertas opted not to play a scheduled game this evening.   The Eagles record improves to 11-9 (3-5) and they finish the regular season this week at Saugatuck and at Martin.
