CUSTER — With some powerful defense and tough rebounding, the Mason County Eastern girls’ basketball team crushed Baldwin, 57-10, Tuesday night.

“The girls played great defense tonight, which led to some fast break points for us,” said Eastern coach Jake Smith. “Then we were able to execute our half-court sets well.
 
“We had some great interior passing and dominated the glass which led to many second chance baskets. We were able to play different rotations and everyone executed well. We had strong games from multiple players.”
 
Maria Gomez-Jiminez poured in 17 points to lead the Cardinals on offense, followed by Deanna Codman with 14, Janessa Alvesteffer eight, Olivia Wing with seven and Kennday Tyler seven.
 
Wing and Codman each had six steals and Kaden Robinson came away with five.Gomez-Jiminez dished out four assists and Alvesteffer had three. Gomez-Jiminez hauled down 14 rebounds.

Mason County Eastern (8-9, 5-7) travels to Marion on Thursday night.
