KENTWOOD–The Grand Haven girls battled to the very end before dropping a 40-39 decision to OK-Red opponent East Kentwood on Tuesday night.

East Kentwood led 12-10 at the end of one and 20-14 at the half.

Grand Haven narrowed the gap to 28-23 at the end of the third quarter and closed out the final eight minutes with a 16-12 scoring edge, but fell short by a single point.

Gillian Sorrelle and Heidi Berky each had nine points to lead Grand Haven. Emerson  Berndt and Maddie Scholf each had eight points. Sorrelle had four steals. Berkey and Berndt had eight rebounds while Berndt finished with three assists.  

Grand Haven (11-7, 6-5) will host Grandville on Friday.
