GRANT–The Grant Tigers staved off several surges by the Holton Red Devils on Tuesday night and escaped with a 56-45 victory.

Holton pulled to within two points in the latter stages of the game, but as was the case throughout the game, Grant turned up the pressure and increased the lead.

“We turned the ball over way too many times to win the game,” said Red Devil coach Robert Jordan, whose team was close to 30 turnovers in the game. “We played hard and did some good things, but as we have all season, we always have two or three minutes where we just are completely careless with the ball. That ended up hurting us tonight.”

Ryann Robins led Holton with 10 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Boes had seven points and five steals. Layla Cannady added eight points.

Grant (13-6, 6-3) plays at Kent City on Friday.

Holton (10-9, 5-5) plays at Manistee next Tuesday.
