HOLTON–The Holton Red Devils had a big second quarter on Tuesday night and carried that to a 64-35 victory over the visiting Hesperia Panthers.

The Red Devils outscored the Panthers 27-5 in the second quarter and went on to capture their first victory of the season in the West Michigan Conference Rivers matchup.

“Our guys haven’t stopped working all year,” Holton coach Keith Swanson said. “Tonight, that really shown through on both sides of the ball. I’m very proud of them and their resilience this year. We hope to keep building on it down the stretch.”

Holton carried a 45-15 lead into the half.

Broderick Fialek led the Red Devils with 18 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Carter Brant tallied a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals. Keon McMillan added 15 points and four steals. Jayce McMillan scored 14 points. Chase Albright contributed eight rebounds.

Jared Tanner and Ian Fox scored six points each for Hesperia.

Holton (1-16, 1-8) hosts Remus Chippewa Hills on Wednesday.

Hesperia (3-13, 1-7) travels to Shelby on Friday.
