NORTH MUSKEGON — The Holton Red Devils put a damper on Senior Night for the North Muskegon Norse on Thursday night.

The Red Devils outscored the hosts 13-4 in the final period and earned a 49-38 victory over the Norse.

Holton led 17-8 after one quarter and 28-20 at the half. North Muskegon had a 14-8 advantage in the third period and pulled to within 36-34 heading into the pivotal fourth quarter.

“We set up our zone to stop Ryann Robins, but her teammates hurt us from the outside,” NM coach Sarah Knuth said.

Abbie Fowler poured in 20 points and Courtney Boes had 13, including a trio of 3-pointers, to lead Holton.

Grace Philpot, Lucy Fricke, Fran Vinson and Marilyn Gaston scored eight points each for North Muskegon. Fricke added 11 rebounds and Gaston had six rebounds plus two blocked shots. Kaylee Martin had six assists in limited playing time.

“We came back from a jittery opening,” Knuth said. “We honored seniors before the game and had to shift some emotions to back into the game. Credit goes to Holton for handling pressure and scoring key baskets at the end that sealed the game.”

Holton is now 11-9, 6-5 while North Muskegon is 5-14, 4-7.
