MUSKEGON — The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks celebrated Sophomore Night in grand fashion with an 86-36 victory over North Central Michigan College on Tuesday.

The Jayhawks are in the final stages of the regular season and on the brink of tournament play, which begins next week.

On Tuesday, MCC led 15-6 after one quarter and 42-23 at the half. In the second half, the Jayhawk defense limited North Central to just 13 points while putting up 44.

“It was a good win tonight,” MCC coach Jason Cooper said. “We were very aggressive on offense. Our sophomores really came to play tonight.”

Emmerson Goodin and Calla Miller shared scoring honors for MCC with 22 points each. Goodin also pulled down 12 rebounds, had five steals and three assists. Miller had four rebounds and six assists. Ally Sieber added 12 points and four rebounds while Karleigh Jeffries had 11 points and nine rebounds. Kendall Zoulek and Kayla Fisk had six points each.

Muskegon Community College (18-8, 9-4) hosts Mid-Michigan College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
