MONTAGUE — The host Montague Wildcats surged in the second half and posted a 54-30 victory over Western Michigan Christian.

The Wildcats led 25-18 at the half and used a 29-12 run in the second half to win the non-league contest.

“We had a focused group tonight,” Montague coach Nick Thaler said. “We wanted to get back to defending our yard and adding in some new things defensively.”

Braylyn Bultema led the Wildcats with 12 points and five rebounds. Haylee Schwarz had 12 points, four rebounds and two assists. Amanda Cedarquist chipped in eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Emma Peterson had seven points and five assists.

“I thought our communication was better and we had more activity than what we have been seeing,” Thaler said. 

Ashley Folkema led WMC with 13 points, six rebounds and five blocks. Brooklyn Watts added 10 points and Kasey Folkema had four rebounds.

Montague (11-7, 7-3) plays at North Muskegon on Monday.

Western Michigan Christian (7-9) will host Hart on Monday/
