MUSKEGON–The Muskegon Big Reds made easy work of Reeths-Puffer on Friday, topping the Rockets with a 69-34 OK-Green win.

Muskegon took advantage of its senior leadership as Jordan Briggs finished with a game-high 18 points. Anthony Sydnor III tossed in 16 points while David Day III chipped in 14 points.

Nine Big Reds found the scoring column and canned 11 shots from beyond the arc. Muskegon struggled at the line, connecting on just 12-of-22 free throws.

Reeths-Puffer managed just 10 field goals and hit just two 3-pointers, while going 8-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Muskegon jumped out to a 15-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. Briggs led the offensive charge with seven points in the period.

The Big Reds took over in the second quarter with four three-pointers and increased their lead to, 28-15 by the half.

Muskegon came out on fire in the second half as Sydnor scored 13 points to lead the Big Reds to a 49-26 lead.

The Big Reds closed the final eight minutes with a 17-8 scoring advantage.

Jaxson Whitaker led the Rockets with 13 points and Tyviea Williams tossed in seven points. Travis Ambrose finished with six points, five blocks and 12 rebounds.
 
“Muskegon was able to do the things they set out to do tonight and we were unable to execute against them,” said Reeths-Puffer coach Nate Aardema. “They are a great team. We will continue to grow and learn as we look to get better for our next games.”
 
Muskegon (13-0, 8-0) will be back in action this afternoon (Saturday) at the 2K23 Showcase at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. They will take on North Farmington. Game time is 5:15 p.m.
 
Reeths-Puffer (7-7, 4-4) will host Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday.
