SHELBY — North Muskegon basketball coach Chuck Rypstra had to be pleased after watching his team’s performance on Tuesday night.

The visiting Norsemen did just about everything right in a 62-29 victory over the Shelby Tigers, who were limited to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.

“We shot the ball well tonight and had good contributions from a number of players,” Rypstra said. “We got off to a good start, but Shelby, as they always do, came back to make it close.”

North Muskegon raced out to a 19-9 lead after one quarter and extended it to 35-18 at the half.

“The second quarter we were able to stretch it out some more and then in the second half, we kept them at bay with just enough plays,” said Rypstra, whose team had a 27-11 second-half advantage in scoring.

Three North Muskegon players reached double-digit scoring, led by Troy McManus with 14 points, four steals and three assists. Jaxon Lisinski added 11 points while Adam Dugener had 10. Lamarkis Graham had nine points and Denny Belmonte had six points and three assists.

Wyatt Dickman and Bishop Lee led Shelby with eight points each.

North Muskegon (15-3, 8-2) travels to Hart at 7 p.m. Friday.

Shelby (6-11, 2-7) hosts Orchard View Wednesday night.
