Ravenna escapes with low-scoring victory over White Cloud

RAVENNA–If you were looking for an offensive explosion at a basketball contest on Wednesday evening, Ravenna High School was not the place to be.

The Bulldogs rallied for a 27-24 non-conference win over White Cloud.

The visiting Indians defense shut out Ravenna in the first eight minutes and led 7-0. The Bulldogs returned the favor in the second stanza and shut out White Cloud 7-0. That left the teams tied at 7-all at the half.

Both teams finally generated some offense during the third period which saw Ravenna earn a 13-10 scoring edge. In the fourth quarter, both teams again scored seven points each.

Addison Gillard led Ravenna with seven points. Emily Postema tossed in five points.

Gaby Reeve led White Cloud with nine points.

Ravenna (8-12, 3-8) will host Oakridge next Tuesday.

White Cloud (8-10, 4-5) will travel to Reed City on Friday.
