LUDINGTON — Reeths-Puffer snapped the Ludington girls’ six-game winning streak Tuesday night with a narrow 42-39 non-conference win at Hawley Gymnasium.

The Rockets forged a tight 14-12 edge on the Orioles after the first quarter. But the Orioles responded with a 4-2 edge in the second quarter and pulled into a 16-16 tie at the half.
 
Reeths-Puffer came back with a 15-12 advantage in the third quarter to gain a 31-28 edge. The Rockets and Orioles scored 11 points apiece in the final quarter.
 
“I think this is a good game to prepare you for going into February and going into March,” said Ludington coach Warren Stowe. “They’re a physical team. We knew they’d see pressure. They were down a girl tonight. It was a good game. I love having Puffer on the schedule. This will make us better in the long run.”
 
Sophia Hekkema led Reeths-Puffer with a game-high 13 points while Brooklynn Tornes tossed in 10 points. Ashlynn Anderson led Reeths-Puffer with seven rebounds.
 
Emma McKinley led the Orioles with 10 points. She was followed by Keelyn Laird with eight and Karli Meysar with six.
 
Reeths-Puffer (10-5, 6-1) will host OK-Green leader Muskegon on Friday.
 
Ludington (11-4, 8-0) will travel to Montague on Thursday.
