MUSKEGON — The host Reeths-Puffer Rockets raced out to a solid 44-25 halftime lead and cruised to a 79-63 victory over Wyoming.

The Rockets came out flying in the opening quarter and put up 25 points.

“We started out really strong and a lot of that was our energy and effort on the offensive glass early in the game,” said Rocket coach Nate Aardema, whose team had 11 offensive rebounds in the opening and was able to convert many of them into points.

Jaxon Whitaker led Reeths-Puffer with 21 points, including 17 in the first half. He also had eight assists and five rebounds. Travis Ambrose added 19 points, 13 of which came in the first half, 11 rebounds and eight blocks. Brayden Mitchelson canned four 3-pointers among his 14 points. Antrel Jones had six points and nine rebounds.

“It was a great game where we got everyone playing time and had nine of our 11 players score,” Aardema said.
