SHELBY–The Shelby Tigers and Ravenna Bulldogs girls basketball teams battled to the very end on Tuesday night.

In the end, Shelby escaped with a 43-37 victory over the Bulldogs in West Michigan Conference River Division action.

The contest was close throughout the contest. The two teams ended the first quarter tied at 11-all. Shelby held a 25-22 lead at the half.

The Tigers increased their lead to 35-29 by the end of the third period. Both teams put up eight points in the final eight minutes as Shelby held on for the win.

Molli Schultz led Shelby with 13 points, four assists and two steals. Aubrey Klotz tossed in nine points and dished out four assists. Biloxi Lee grabbed a team-high six rebounds while Claire Gowell hauled down five rebounds.

Emma Gillard led Ravenna with a game-high 17 points.

Shelby (9-11, 6-5) will travel to Mason County Central on Thursday.

Ravenna (7-12, 3-8) will host White Cloud on Wednesday (Tonight).
