SHELBY — The host Tigers turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter and carried that to a 49-39 victory over the Orchard View Cardinals.

Shelby led 8-5 after one quarter, but then took off on a 13-2 run in the second quarter and led 21-7 lead at the half.

Orchard View outscored Shelby 32-28 in the second half.

Bishop Lee led Shelby with 23 points and nine rebounds. Carson Claeys added 10 points and Lalo Garcia was strong on the boards with eight rebounds.

Shelby hosts Hesperia on Friday.

Orchard View travels to Oakridge on Friday.
