LUDINGTON — Oakridge jumped out to a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter Thursday night, but Ludington took over from there and finished with an 84-46 boys’ basketball win.

It was a West Michigan Conference Lakes Division contest and played at Ludington.
 
The Orioles came back with a vengeance in the second quarter, exploding for a 30-14 scoring advantage and carrying a 36-27 lead into the half.
 
Continuing to find the range in the third quarter, the Orioles outscored the Eagles, 27-11, and bounded into the fourth period with a 57-38 lead.
 
David Shillinger paced the Orioles with 24 points, including 22 in the middle two quarters.
 
Matthew Westhouse contributed 17 points and nine rebounds, while Kol Anthes added nine points.
 
Ryan Cribbins and Evan Miller each scored 10 points for the Eagles.
 
“The way we attempt to play each and every night, it takes digging a little deeper and sometimes it isn’t in human nature to dig a little deeper,” Ludington coach Thad Shank said. “The kids turned it on … and it was good seeing those turnovers created in the second half.”
 
Ludington (15-1, 8-0) resumes conference action at Montague on Tuesday.
 
Oakridge (6-10, 3-5) travels to Fremont on Tuesday for a conference matchup.
