LUDINGTON—- A big third quarter allowed the Ludington boys basketball team to pull away from Fremont and post a 64-48 victory Friday.

The game was played in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division.

The Orioles successfully rebounded from a 66-35 loss to Cadillac in their last game.
 
Ludington forged a narrow 17-15 edge at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Packers 16-10 in the second period to extend its lead to 33-25 at the half.
 
Then the Orioles exploded for a 23-10 run in the third quarter, which increased their lead to 21 points, 56-35, heading into the fourth quarter. Fremont outscored the Orioles, 13-8, in the fourth.
 
David Shillinger poured in a game-high 28 points to lead the Orioles. Matthew Westhouse and Spencer Holmes each added 12 points.
 
Fremont was led by Chaz Miller with 14 points and Jordon McDonald scored 12.
 
Ludington (14-1, 7-0) will host Oakridge next Friday. 
 
Fremont (8-6, 3-4) will host Muskegon Heights on Monday.
