ROCKFORD–The Grand Haven Buccaneers hung on for a thrilling OK-Red win over Rockford on Friday evening by a final score of 52-51.

With the win, Grand Haven trails Hudsonville and Grandville by one full game in the league standings.

The Bucs rode on the back Harrison Sorrelle who finished with a game-high 27 points, including four shots from beyond the arc.

Grand Haven jumped out to a 15-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. Both teams struggled in the second quarter as Rockford put up six points while the Bucs only scored four points. Grand Haven led 19-17 at halftime.

Grand Haven and Rockford each put up 16 points in the third period. Sorrelle led the Bucs with eight points in the quarter.

Sorrelle continued to have the hot hand in the final eight minutes as he scored 10 points for Grand Haven. Rockford held a 18-17 scoring edge in the fourth quarter as the Bucs escaped with a one-point road win.

Grand Haven hit nine 3-point shots and went 9-of-12 from the free throw line.

Eli Wachter tossed in nine points for Grand Haven while Will Korenstra chipped in with eight points.

Grand Haven (12-3, 5-3) will travel to Jenison on Tuesday.
