HAMILTON — The visiting Spring Lake Lakers put up a good battle for three quarters against second-place Hamilton.

However, a rough second quarter made a big difference in Hamilton’s 48-41 victory over Spring Lake. In that pivotal quarter, the Hawkeyes hit some 3-pointers and took advantage of some defensive miscues to take a 26-19 halftime lead.

The Lakers were able to battle back to within four several times in the second half, but could not complete the comeback.

Ella Andree led the Lakers with 20 points, three rebounds and two steals. Alexa Carter added eight points and four rebounds.  Brooke Bolthouse chipped in eight points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Kyra Kleinhecksel led the Hawkeyes (14-6, 9-3) with 19 points.

Spring Lake (8-10, 4-8) travels to Fruitport on Tuesday.
