MUSKEGON — The Western Michigan Christian Warriors battled ack from a double-digit deficit and defeated host Muskegon Catholic 53-44 on Friday night.

The Crusaders led 30-19 at the half.

“It was a disappointing night on Senior Night,” said MCC coach Rob Recknagel. “We played hard, but didn’t make the right plays in the fourth quarter. We settled for too many low percentage looks and lacked patience. WMC made more shots and dominated us on the offensive glass in the second half.”

WMC led 11-9 after the opening quarter, but Catholic surged to the halftime lead with a 21-8 advantage in the third quarter. WMC began chipping away at the deficit and pulled to within 37-34 after three quarters.

Kevin Jackson led WM Christian with 14 points and 23 rebounds. Jared Olsen added 14 points.

Braden Gustin led Muskegon Catholic with 17 points. Chase Willer added eight.
