FREMONT– The host Fremont Packers finished off the regular season in grand style on Saturday with a 59-35 victory over the Orchard View Cardinals.

Packer coach Adam Bowen is feeling pretty good heading into this week’s district tournament after watching his team perform on Saturday.

“It was a great team effort and everyone contributed to the victory,” Bowen said. “We played a very tough schedule this year and the boys worked hard and have improved a lot. We now look forward to the district tournament starting this week.”

Jordon McDonald turned in a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Chaz Miller had one of his best games of the season, according to Bowen, with seven points, 12 assists, four steals and no turnovers. Gavin Richards added 12 points and six rebounds. Andrew Steger was a spark off the bench with seven points, six rebounds and  three steals.

Fremont (11-11) will begin district play at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Packers will face the winner of Monday’s game between Newaygo and Grant.
