LAKEVIEW–Kent City began what it hopes is a long tournament run with a 49-22 victory over Holton on Wednesday night.

The Division 3 district semifinal game was played at Lakeview.

The Eagles (19-4) will now face Morley-Stanwood, a team they defeated twice during the regular season. Morley-Stanwood (15-5) defeated Ravenna in its semifinal game, 32-24.

Friday’s title game is set for 7 p.m.

Early on both offenses struggled as Kent City held a slim 9-8 lead after the first quarter. From that point on, it was all Kent City as they outscored Holton 17-4 during the second quarter to take a 26-12 lead at the half.

The Eagles extended their lead to 39-18 after three and closed out the final eight minutes with a 10-4 scoring advantage.

Junior Maddie Geers led the Kent City offense with a game high 18 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals, four assists and two blocked shots. Senior Lexie Bowers tossed in 16 points, three steals, two assists and one blocked shot. Freshman Alyssa Miller and Laynee Hoffman each scored six points.
 
Aubrey Goyings led Holton with six points.
