REED CITY — Ludington’s girls basketball team saw its season come to an end Wednesday night in the Division 3 district tournament in Reed City.
The Orioles ran up against a solid and balanced Cadillac squad in the semifinals and were dealt their third straight loss, 43-26, to close out the season. Cadillac will take on Big Rapids for the district title on Friday night.
Ludington never led after the Vikings started the game with a 17-9 run in the first quarter. Cadillac outscored the Orioles, 10-5 in the second and entered the half with a 27-14 lead.
After outscoring the Vikings, 12-9 in the third quarter to trail by 10 points, 36-26, the Orioles went scoreless over the final eight minutes.
Emma McKinley was the Orioles leading scorer with nine points. Keelyn Laird added five points.
The Orioles finished the year 15-8, 11-1 in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division.
