MUSKEGON — A balanced team effort propelled the Muskegon Lumberjacks to a 4-2 comeback win over Cedar Rapids at Trinity Health Arena on Friday night.

The Lumberjacks had four different players net goals in the victory while goalie Raythan Robbins posted a strong night with 36 saves.

Trailing 2-1 late in the second period, Jacob Terpstra started the comeback for Muskegon with his third goal of the season. Gavin McCarthy and Joe Connor assisted on the play.

Michael Callow put Muskegon up 3-2 midway through the third period on a power play goal assisted by George Fegaras and Cody Croal.

The Lumberjacks sealed the win on a Justin Solovey empty-net goal with just over a minute left in the contest.

Muskegon fell behind 1-0 early in the second period on a Cedar Rapids goal by Drew Stewart.

Ethan Whitcomb put the Lumberjacks on the board for his 19th goal of the season on assists from Sacha Boisvert and Ty Henricks. The goal came with seven minutes left to play in the second period.

Cedar Rapids’ Ryan Walsh put his team up 2-1 less than a minute later.

Muskegon was outshot 38-24 but held Cedar Rapids scoreless on all five of their power play opportunities.

Muskegon is now 23-25 overall and currently sits in seventh place, nine points behind sixth-place Cedar Rapids.

The Lumberjacks continue their efforts on Saturday night at home in the second contest of the two-game series with Cedar Rapids.
