MUSKEGON — When reaching the playoffs looks to be out of reach, just finishing the season strong is a must.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks appear to be making that effort after they captured their second straight win with a 4-2 victory over a talented Team USA U-18 squad at a “greened-out” Trinity Health Arena.

The special St. Patrick’s Day ice was in the favor for the Lumberjacks as they rallied for three straight goals to take home the win.

Michael Callow tallied his 15th goal of the season midway through the first period on a Joe Connor assist.

Then Callow goal tied the score for Muskegon which fell behind 1-0 after Team USA’s Ryan Leonard found the back of the net five minutes into the game.

Muskegon took a 2-1 lead on a George Fegaras power-play goal in the second period. Matthew Morden and Cody Croal tallied helpers on the play.

Callow opened the third period with his second goal of the night with another Muskegon power-play tally for a 3-1 lead. Croal and Sacha Boisvert connected to set up Callow.

Croal closed out scoring for Muskegon on an assist by Nicholas Rexine.

Muskegon’s biggest key of the night came from goaltender Raythan Robbins as he stopped 36-of-38 shots.

Muskegon was outshot 38-21.
