HESPERIA — Mason County Central’s boys basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a convincing 80-43 West Michigan Conference Rivers Division win at Hesperia Thursday night.

The Spartans exploded for a 24-3 first-quarter lead and were never threatened after that. They outscored the Panthers, 26-16, in the second to build a 50-19 halftime lead.
 
A 20-10 third quarter sent the Spartans bounding into the fourth with a 70-29 advantage. Hesperia enjoyed its best production in the final period, outscoring the Spartans, 14-10.
 
Will Chye poured in 33 points to lead all scorers, and he also added five rebounds and had three steals. Jack VanderHaag contributed 15 points and five steals, while Kolden Myer added 11 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists.
 
Hesperia was led by Jared Tanner with 10 points. Zach Glenn, Maddox Mosley and Ian Fox scored nine apiece.
 
The Spartans improved to 15-7 overall and finished 8-4 in the WMC Rivers for third place. They play in the Division 3 district at Mason County Central next Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the winner of Monday’s Manistee-Shelby game.

Hesperia finished the regular season 4-17 overall and 1-11 in the WMC Rivers Division. The Panthers face White Cloud in the Division 3 district at Mason County Central next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
