CUSTER — A last-second 3-pointer by Angel Santillan Lopez found the bottom of the net and the Walkerville Wildcats stunned Mason County Eastern, 54-53, in overtime on Thursday night.

The Wildcats called a timeout with 1 second remaining in overtime and trailing 53-51. They drew up a play and Santillan Lopez executed it to perfection with his long-range shot and Walkerville celebrated a victory.

It was back-and-forth after halftime. Eastern led by as many as seven points, and the Wildcats battled back. Neither could gain a decided edge.
 
The Cardinals took a 16-4 lead at the end of one, and it was 21-19 at the half. Walkerville pushed ahead, 34-27, after three.  The game was deadlocked at 45-all at the end of regulation.
 
Collin Chase scored 13 points and had four assists to lead the Wildcats. Connor Shafer scored 10 points and had eight boards. Jordan Oomen also scored 10 points and had four steals. Zontae De La Paz had nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
 
The Wildcats improved their record to 4-18 overall, 4-14 in the WMD. Walkerville turns right around for a rematch with the Cardinals in the Division 4 district tournament in Baldwin on Monday night.

Eastern fell to 6-15 overall and 5-12 in the conference.
