HOLTON–The Hart Pirates joined a select group of boys’ high school basketball teams in the state of Michigan that completed the regular season with a 22-0 record under the new MHSAA format.

Hart (22-0, 12-0) cruised past Holton (1-21, 1-11) in a West Michigan Conference Rivers contest on Thursday evening, 68-16.

Hart’s three starting seniors led the way as Parker Hovey poured in a game-high 17 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, dished out seven assists and had five blocked shots. Diego Escamilla tossed in 12 points and Caleb Bitely scored 10 points.

Hart raced out to a 25-6 lead after the first eight minutes. The Pirates went on to lead 40-9 at the half.

Hart will be back on the court next at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday in Big Rapids at the Division 2 districts. They will play the winner of Monday night’s contest between Big Rapids and Ludington.
