WALKERVILLE –-The Walkerville Wildcats got by the Manistee Catholic Central Sabers on Tuesday evening in a West Michigan D League contest, 45-36.

Walkerville held a slim 9-8 lead at the end the first quarter. The Wildcats went on to post a 19-16 lead by halftime.

Walkerville and Catholic Central each put up 11 points in the third period and the Wildcats led 30-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats closed out the contest with a 15-9 scoring advantage to secure the win.

Zeontae De La Paz led Walkerville with 14 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Abdel Lopez and Colin Chase each scored nine points. Connor Shafer tossed in seven points and Jordan Oomen contributed six points.

“We spread the ball around and got a lot of good looks, but didn’t shoot well,” Walkerville coach Lee Oomen said. “But our defense showed up big tonight and we got our third win of the year.”

Walkerville (3-18, 3-14) will travel to Mason County Eastern on Thursday.
