SPRING LAKE — Before nature intervened, the Fremont girls’ softball team provided the thunder in Wednesday’s scheduled non-conference doubleheader against Spring Lake.

The Packers’ bats were booming with 23 hits in an 11-3 victory on the road over the Lakers. The second game was postponed due to weather.

Elise Pfeiffer carried the most thunder for the Packers with five hits, all singles. Rainee Dey-Rayl crushed a two-run homer in the second inning. Also getting multiple hits were Sage Vandenberg, Savannah Keur, Izabel Austin, Mckenzie Gugins and Sophia Romine.

Romine was in the pitcher’s circle and allowed just three hits and three runs over seven innings. She struck out six.

Alexa Carter paced the Lakers with two hits.

The Packers regularly scheduled home games with North Muskegon Friday have been cancelled, and their next game is Monday at home against Hesperia.

Spring Lake has a non-league game scheduled for Thursday at Forest Hills Eastern.
