ALLENDALE–The Allendale Falcons pushed across the winning run across in the bottom of the sixth inning in a 2-1 win over the Fruitport Trojans on Thursday.

Allendale scored the winning run when Wyatt Merritt, on a 1-2 count, singled.

“The pitching was strong on both sides,” said Fruitport coach Nick Reed. “We played great defense as Cody Nash and Jax Flynn ran down a lot of balls that could have been hits.  Avery (Lambers) pitched well enough to win, we just couldn’t come through with a big hit.”

Allendale scored in the first inning when Easton Tolson drew a walk, scoring one run.

Lambers surrendered two runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one.

Fruitport had eight hits.  Flynn and Ricky Wiggins each collected multi-hit games for the Trojans.  Flynn went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Fruitport.
