HART — Hart got a pair of solid pitching performances to sweep Shelby in Tuesday’s West Michigan Conference Rivers Division twinbill. Host Hart won 9-4 and 13-2.

Blake Weirich had a strong game on the mound in the opener, working 6 1/3 innings and allowing just two hits and one earned run while ringing up 11 strikeouts.

On top of that, he swung a big bat with three hits, including a triple and a double. Carter Ramseyer, Kyan Clark, Noah Smith and Mitchell Slade all contributed big hits.

Halen Boos was solid behind the plate.

In the nightcap, Ty Schlukebir was touched for four hits and two runs while striking out five on the mound.

Schlukebir also helped his own cause offensively, finishing 3-for-4, had two stolen bases and scored four runs. Weirich was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Contributing two hits and two RBIs was Slade, while Brendan Hiddema and Clark. Each had a double. Smith finished with one hit and two RBIs.

Hart (7-4 overall, 4-0 WMC Rivers) is next scheduled to host North Muskegon in another conference game next Tuesday.

Shelby (2-7 overall, 0-5 WMC Rivers) has a makeup game scheduled for Friday with Ravenna.
