MUSKEGON — It was a busy weekend of softball for the Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks against Alpena.
 
The teams split a twinbill on Friday and the Jayhawks claimed victory in the single game on Saturday.
 
On Friday, MCC won the opener 7-6 in nine innings then dropped a 22-21 slugfest in the nightcap.
 
In Game 1, Lilli Goodrich (Ludington) was the winning pitcher with a complete-game performance. She allowed six runs on seven hits and struck out 10.
 
Jasmine Pastor had a pair of hits, including a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth that plated the game-winning run. She also belted a home run and knocked in a total of three runs.
 
Goodrich added three hits and three runs scored. Cassie Kohnke (Fruitport) had two hits.
 
In the second game, Illeana Hather (Whitehall) had three hits, including a home run and a triple. She knocked in four runs and scored three times. Rachel Romero (Hesperia) had two hits, scored four runs and knocked in two runs. Morgan Knapp (Whitehall) added three hits, scored four runs and knocked in two. Goodrich had two hits and two RBI. Pastor had two hits and three RBI.
 
On Saturday, the Jayhawks earned a 10-3 victory. Goodrich gave up three runs on six hits in 7 innings of work. She struck out eight.
 
Brie Pastor (Oakridge) was the leading hitter for MCC with three hits, including two doubles. She scored three runs and knocked in one. Aaliyah Calkins (Cedar Springs) added two hits and had three stolen bases. Knapp added two hits, including a two-run triple. Brooklyn Galdeen had a bases-clearing double.
 
Muskegon CC is now 6-4 and will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they host the Aquinas College JV team. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
