MUSKEGON– There were plenty of good storylines in girls’ basketball this past season.
None bigger than the run by the Hart Pirates to the Division 3 state semifinals at The Breslin Center in East Lansing. While the Pirates fell short to eventual state champion Hemlock, the Pirates did enjoy a banner season.
So when it came time for pick the Division 3-4 dream team by the Local Sports Journal, the Pirates were well represented by Addi Hovey and Abby Hicks, along with Coach Travis Rosema.
Here are the girls all-area teams by the Local Sports Journal.
Division 3-4 Girls Basketball Dream Team
Travis Rosema – Coach, Hart
Wren Nelson – Mason County Central
Addi Hovey – Hart
Abby Hicks – Hart
Lexie Bowers – Kent City
Maddie Geers – Kent City
Hart coach Travis Rosema led the Pirates to a 24-4 record. They won the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division with a 12-0 record. They won a district championship title over Mason County Central and won their first regional championship since 1992 by beating Kent City. Kent City junior Maddie Geers averaged 16.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. She also scored her 1,000th career point this season. (Photo/Joe Washington)

Ashley Folkema – Western Michigan Christian
Kent City coach Aleah Holcomb led the Eagles to a 23-3 record. They finished 10-1 in the Central State Activities Association and took second place. They won a district championship over Morley-Stanwood. (Joe Washington)
