MUSKEGON– There were plenty of good storylines in girls’ basketball this past season.

None bigger than the run by the Hart Pirates to the Division 3 state semifinals at The Breslin Center in East Lansing. While the Pirates fell short to eventual state champion Hemlock, the Pirates did enjoy a banner season.

So when it came time for pick the Division 3-4 dream team by the Local Sports Journal, the Pirates were well represented by Addi Hovey and Abby Hicks, along with Coach Travis Rosema.

Here are the girls all-area teams by the Local Sports Journal.

Division 3-4 Girls Basketball Dream Team

Travis Rosema – Coach, Hart

Wren Nelson – Mason County Central

Addi Hovey – Hart

Abby Hicks – Hart

Lexie Bowers – Kent City

Maddie Geers – Kent City

Hart coach Travis Rosema led the Pirates to a 24-4 record. They won the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division with a 12-0 record. They won a district championship title over Mason County Central and won their first regional championship since 1992 by beating Kent City. Division 3-4 Girls Basketball First Team

Aleah Holcomb – Kent City, Coach.

Aspen Boutell – Hart

Mallory Miller – Mason County Central

Gaby Reeve – White Cloud

Molli Schultz – Shelby

Ashley Folkema – Western Michigan Christian

Kent City coach Aleah Holcomb led the Eagles to a 23-3 record. They finished 10-1 in the Central State Activities Association and took second place. They won a district championship over Morley-Stanwood. (Joe Washington)
