DELTON — Ludington’s baseball team went 1-1 at the Thornapple Kellogg Wooden Bat Invitational Saturday.

Ludington defeated Delton Kellogg 10-6 and lost to Thornapple Kellogg, 5-4.

Jonny Weinert picked up the win on the mound for the Orioles as he allowed one earned run on five hits and eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
 
Evan McCarthy was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Weinert added two runs batted in and two runs scored.
 
Nathan Dillehay was the losing pitcher against Thornapple Kellogg. In 2 2/3 innings, Dillehay gave up three earned runs. Gage Jones finished the game and did not allow an earned run and had five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
 
McCarthy led the Orioles with two hits and two RBI. Dillehay had a double, drew three walks and drove in two runs.
 
“I thought we did some things well today, we are coming home a bit frustrated,” said Ludington coach Evan Kroeze. “Little mental errors cost us the trophy today and we have to learn from that.
 
“We feel like we’re so close to busting out.”

Ludington (5-8) resumes West Michigan Lakes Division play Tuesday at home against Whitehall. The Orioles are 3-3 in the conference.
