CADILLAC — Ludington split a baseball doubleheader with Cadillac on Friday, winning the opener 7-3 and losing the nightcap, 8-7.

The non-conference games were played in Cadillac.

“Similar to this past Tuesday, we feel like we’re making strides and starting to play better baseball, but we still did not do enough of the little things to come home with a sweep,” said Ludington coach Evan Kroeze. “A couple untimely base running mistakes and errors were the difference we feel like. But, overall still a lot to build off.”

Jack Stidham was the winning pitcher for the Orioles, throwing six innings and surrendering 11 hits and striking out three.

Evan McCarthy had two runs batted in to lead the Orioles.

In the nightcap, McCarthy pitched and suffered the loss in 2 2/3 innings. He gave up one earned run on five hits.

Joe Benz led the offense, with two hits, one a double, and one RBI. Jonny Weinert went 2-for-3 and had two runs scored, and McCarthy was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Ludington returns to West Michigan Conference Lakes Division play Tuesday at Orchard View.
