WYOMING–After dropping Game 1 of a doubleheader, the Mona Shores Sailors regrouped and earned a split on the softball field.
 
Wyoming won the first game, 3-0, and Shores won the nightcap, 11-1.
 
Mona Shores pitcher Grace Michelli took the loss in the opener, but turned in a solid performance with nine strikeouts and no walks. Mia Goeghan, Brooklyn Graham and Kristen Hylland had one hit each.
 
In the nightcap, Michelli tossed a two hitter and allowed one run. 
 
Maggie McCarthy belted two home runs and a single to lead the Sailors’ hitting attack. Maddy Russell, Geoghan, Graham and Amelia Pena each had to hits.
 
Pena was credited for playing solid defense from her catcher position. She picked off a runner a third base and threw out a runner at second on an attempted stolen base.
 
Mona Shores is now 5-4 overall, 3-1 in conference play.
