HUDSONVILLE – The Mona Shores boys lacrosse team continued their tear through the conference with a, 11-9 victory over Hudsonville on Tuesday evening.

It was Hudsonville’s first league loss.

Hudsonville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the opening quarter.

As the offense warmed up, the Sailors were able to gain control of the action.

“Our offense really clicked and we are starting to trust the system to get the shots we want,” said Sailor coach Murle Greer. “I was really proud of the offensive execution.”

With some key pieces missing defensively, the Sailors had to adjust.

“We had some guys really step up and had one of our best defensive showings of the season,” said Greer. “We knew we couldn’t match them man-for-man so we leaned heavily on our zone concepts and took away the middle of the field.”

JJ Boos led the Sailors with three goals and seven ground balls. Luke Beilhartz, Dylan Fett, Jake Nanna and Micah Carefelle each added two goals.

Goalkeeper Parker Hayward posted 11 saves.

“This win puts us in a good position for regional playoffs in May,” Greer said. “We still have some really tough games ahead, and with every win, the target on our backs gets a little bigger.”
