GRAND HAVEN — The Grand Haven Buccaneers and Mona Shores Sailors split a baseball doubleheader on Saturday.

The Sailors won the opener, 3-1, while Grand Haven claimed the nightcap, 10-2.

In the first game, Jaxon Huffman pitched a solid game over six innings. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out nine. Jaden Thomas retired the side in the seventh inning and earned the save.

Javanni Johnson led the Sailors with two hits, one a triple, scored a run and had two stolen bases. Brady Recknagel had a double and a single. He also scored a run. Trevor Cunningham had a hit and scored a run.
 
Johnson took the loss on the mound for Shores in the second game. He allowed 10 runs, six earned, over 5 /13 innings. He struck out six.
 
Ethan Ring led the Sailors with two doubles. Cunningham had a hit and an RBI.
 
The Sailors (6-1, 3-0) travel to Wyoming on Tuesday for a doubleheader in conference play.
