NORTON SHORES–The Mona Shores softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Forest Hills Eastern on Thursday afternoon.
The Sailors took the opener 11-5 with Grace Michelli picking up the win. She had 10 strikeouts and allowed just three hits. Michelli also got the win in Game 2, in which Shores won, 13-2.
Maggie McCarthy and Maddy Russell had three hits while Brooklyn Graham added two, including a home run. Amelia Pena added her first home run. Kylie Geoghan went 2-for-3.
Shores fell behind 3-0 after the top of the first inning, but answered with five runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.
The Sailors took the nightcap 13-2 as Michelli picked up the win, striking out two and allowing only three hits.
Shores’ defense was solid as 15 outs came by way of ground balls.
Kylie Geoghan led the way by going 3-for-4 and scoring three times. Kristen Hylland went 2-for-2 with a walk. Michelli added a home run while going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
