GRAND RAPIDS–The Mona Shores boys golf team once again found themselves at the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sailors shot a 139 to win the third OK-Green Golf Jamboree at Indian Trails Golf Club in Grand Rapids.

A vastly improved Reeths-Puffer squad finished in the runner-up position as they shot a season-low 145. It was also the best finish this season for the Rockets in conference action.

“We played to our potential tonight,” said Reeths-Puffer coach Matt Pallett. ” It was a great team effort. One challenge of golf is to be consistent. With a match tonight (Wednesday) we will have to show mental toughness if things don’t always go our way. Having four guys in the 30s was great today. Even better was hearing each of the six guys talk about ways they can improve.”

The remainder of the team scores included: Zeeland West (149), Holland (156), Zeeland East (162), Wyoming (+77) and Grand Rapids Union (221).

Mona Shores senior Nicholas Taylor and Zeeland West sophomore were at the top of the leaderboard as they each shot rounds of 32. Reeths-Puffer junior Dylan Panozzo finished with a 33.

Holland freshman Preston Logan shot a round of 34. Union junior Landon Sandee, Mona Shores senior Oliver McDonald and Reeths-Puffer freshman Kristian Brown each shot 35. Mona Shores senior Thomas Stewart and his teammate, senior James Ackley, shot 36. Zeeland West senior Malachi Le finished the day with a 37.

Other top performers for Reeths-Puffer included: Tanner Bonjernoor (38), Mason Gregg (39), Jacob Pierce (43) and David Grimard (48).

Mona Shores and Reeths-Puffer will both be back in action tonight as they will travel Zeeland to participate in the fourth OK-Green Jamboree at Crestview Golf Course.
