MUSKEGON — In what has become a traditional matchup, the Oakridge Eagles hosted the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils in a twinbill at historic Marsh Field on Saturday.

Oakridge won the first game 2-1, and the Blue Devils won the second game, 4-3.

The friendly rivalry was created 2 years before COVID when the teams played in regional action. 

Oakridge’s Brody Jennings picked up the win in the opener and Matt Danicek got the save.
 
Danicek and Gage Lowry drove in the two runs for the Eagles. Jennings ended up two hits.
 
While the Blue Devils racked up nine hits, they could only score a single run. That was a base hit by Avery Wilson that plated Ryan Teneyck.
 
Eagle Arturo Romero Serrano made a diving play up the middle on a line drive and then stepped on second for the double play to end the game in dramatic fashion.
 
The second game was another defensive battle in which the Blue Devils held off a comeback attempt by the Eagles.
 
Sault Ste. Marie scored all four of its runs in the first three innings while the Eagles scored one run in the first and second innings, another in the top of the seventh. The Eagles had the bases loaded when the final out was made.
 
Ethan Chambers got the win for the Devils with Josh Lumsden earned the save. Chambers had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI. Drew Adar had two hits and drove in a run. Michael Bontrager had an RBI.
 
Danicek had one hit and scored two runs for the Eagles. Evan Miller had a hit and an RBI. Arturo Romero Serrano score a run and drove in a run.
