Oakridge’s Utzinger scores the lone goal in Eagle soccer victory over Fremont

 

MUSKEGON — Kate Utzinger scored the game’s lone goal just six minutes into the game on Wednesday and the Oakridge defense made it hold up in a 1-0 league victory over Fremont.

 

The Eagle defense of Brianna Schaallema, Cara Morse, Madalynn Smith, Kaylee Hoeker, Calie Hanson were solid along the back line to help goalkeeper Cadence Veen post the 10-save shutout.

 

Utzinger’s goal was assisted by Amaya Anderson.

 

Kate Mellema was in net for Fremont.

 

Oakridge is now 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the conference. The Eagles will host the Oakridge Invitational on Saturday and take on GR Ottawa Hills at 9 a.m.

 

Fremont is 2-1, 0-1.
