SHELBY — Orchard View and Shelby split a baseball doubleheader at Shelby on Friday afternoon.  The Cardinals won the first game 15-0 and the Tigers came back to take the nightcap, 11-6.

In the first game, the Cardinals had 16 hits and limited the Tigers to just one.

Zack Peterson was 4-for-4 with two runs batted in and one run scored for the Cardinals. C. Scott went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Jayce Allen was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.

Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Jaxon Tuttle finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored while Korson Bowen had one hit, one RBI and one run scored.

Trey Waller had the only hit for Shelby.

Smith picked up the victory on the hill, issuing just two walks and striking out 11 over five innings pitched.

The Tigers had one more hit than the Cardinals, 8-7 in the second game.

Day Day Garcia led the way with three hits and two runs scored. Waller, Lalo Garcia, Travis Boughan, Eli Kelley and Wyatt Dickman had one hit apiece. Dickman drove in two runs, while Lalo Garcia and Boughan had one each.

Day Day Garcia was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, throwing seven innings and giving up just one earned run on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Emelio Villareal led the Cardinals at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Tuttle went 2-for-4 as well with one run scored. Smith and Daulton DeGroot each had a hit.

DeGroot pitched the first four innings and allowed five earned runs on seven hits, walked seven and struck out five.

Shelby travels to Holton Tuesday for a West Michigan Conference Rivers Division doubleheader.

Orchard View goes to Mason County Central for a conference twinbill Tuesday.
